Apple Cider Vinegar and Water Retention

Why I Retain Water

I retain water because of the type of birth control I use. Birth control contain various levels of estrogen and estrogen and can cause fat cells to retain more water. The fat cells are retaining water because they are not processing my salt properly. I usually retain water in my waist and hips. I tried various things for my water retention problem before ACV even going as far as cutting salt out of my diet (for the most part) and my waist would still bloat an inch and a half and my thighs would get half an inch bigger so I knew I had to do something.

Other Reasons for Salt Retention

Certain drugs you’re taking, insufficient potassium, menstrual cycle, hot weather, and long-term use of very low-calorie diets (DON’T DO THIS).

Research

You should always do your own research when deciding what to do about water retention or anything concerning your body. Talking to your doctor might be a good idea as well. I did a lot of research to see if I could self diagnose my water retention because sometimes there are different reasons and they require different treatments. After hours of research… no seriously HOURS I decided that I wanted to try apple cider vinegar.

How it Works

Apple cider vinegar has a high amount of potassium in it which helps to flush the sodium content out of your body. This in turn can lead to less retained water and weight loss. Understand that the weight you’re loosing is only water weight and you still need to watch what you eat and build muscle so that you can have the body you want.

My Experience

I drink apple cider vinegar in it’s regular form. I haven’t taken any tablets because I’m afraid it might not work for me and it’s more expensive than other types of ACV. I use Braggs brand. It has worked for me for an entire year! I love the stuff!

I put 2 tablespoons of the ACV in a glass of water and drink it as soon as I wake up in the morning before breakfast which is usually around 6am. Then I drink another glass mid morning (10am) and this stops my bloating all day! I still can’t believe it! I’ve been doing the happy dance all around my apartment. My roommate thinks I’m crazy!

You should know this stuff will make you pee! A lot. But in my opinion it’s the price you pay for beauty. I just suck it up! If you drink a lot of water then you’re probably already use to it.

I know some people drink AVC three times a day so if you decide to try this you need to experiment with you own body to see what works best for you. You should also measure yourself. I find that when I wake up in the morning my measurements are spot on without any bloating so measure yourself as soon as you wake up and again after a couple hours.

Also remember to drink plenty of water! Lots and lots of water!

Other Things You Can Try Besides Apple Cider Vinegar

Some people have had success with activated charcoal although I don’t know much about this. You can also try taking different water pills or just drink more water and cut as much salt as possible from your diet and see if that helps.

I would love to know how your apple cider vinegar experience goes if you try it. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. Follow me on twitter for faster responses @CandiceVanWye
